Automated Mechanical Exfoliator

This machine is designed for electrical automation of the traditional mechanical exfoliation process of 2D materials.

A linear actuator with 100nm long screw is placed on top of a stainless steel plate of the size 140mmx215mm. The linear actuator is connected by a driver with a 9V voltage input and a controller with X1 to X64 subdivision to achieve fully electrical automation, through a common cathode wire configuration. The exfoliator can achieve a minimal speed at 0.1mm per second.
